这个暑假，作为课外读物，我购买了一套推荐英国小学生阅读的“The Royal Reader《英国语文》”，共六册。其中第二册给我留下了很深刻的印象。第二册主要摘选的是英国一些朗朗上课的诗歌、散文和民间谚语。在开学之季，与我校师生分享的是一篇“劝学”儿歌，其每句结尾均押韵，押韵的单词进行了加粗标注。

　　EARLY RISING

　　Get up, little sister; the morning is bright,

　　And the birds are all singing to welcome the light:

　　The buds are all opening; the dew’s on the flower;

　　If you shake but a branch, see, the falls quite a shower.

　　By the side of their mothers, look, under the trees,

　　单词解析：

　　l Shower本为“洗澡”，也可指宗教仪式中的“受洗”，在文中指的是“降雨”，且通常为比较大的雨。另一个常见的谚语中也有shower一词，“April showers bring May flowers”四月的大雨灌溉出五月的鲜花盛开，即“梅花香自苦寒来”，shower也是与flower押韵的。

　　l Ring一词在本文中也不是它原始的“戒指”的意思，此处指水中环状的“涟漪”。Ring还可做动词，表示“敲响”，如The class is over when the bell rings铃响下课。

　　l Idle在文中作动词，指“散漫”“无所事事”。它的反义词就在同一行中，即labor“辛勤劳作”。Labor是动词名词同形，除了均指“劳动”外，名词还有一个常用意思指“分娩”如After a ten-hour labor, a baby boy was born母亲辛苦了十小时，小男孩平安出生。

　　l Gay一词在本文中的使用比较过时，在中世纪英语当中，gay一词多指cheerful and excited，bright and lively，用来形容春天万物复苏和生机勃勃十分贴切。现代英语中这一形容已不常见。现代英语中多见early spring早春/mid summer仲夏/late autumn暮秋这种以时间节点划分的说法，少了中世纪英语中的“雅致”。

　　l Rejoice是不是觉得很眼熟?这正是宝洁公司旗下著名的护发品牌“飘柔”的英文拼写!宝洁公司之所以能选中这个词，也是因为这个词的词义是“使人高兴，欢庆”，充满正能量。联合利华公司旗下的另一款知名护法护肤品牌LUX力士，也是英文单词luxury“奢华”的缩写，定价比Rejoice飘柔略高。从而体现出其奢华。

　　通篇以“姐姐”的口吻，劝“妹妹”春天来了，新的一天来了，不要赖床，早些开始新的一天，新的一年的劳作吧。这与我们中文里面常说的“一日之计在于晨，一年之计在于春”的概念不谋而合。最后一小节为点睛之笔，“姐姐”告诉“妹妹”，好小孩不能lazy碌碌无为，也不能sad郁郁寡欢，好小孩应该像高歌的云雀一样自由快乐，应该向勤劳的蜜蜂一样享受工作。同学们，大学四年，是大家人生当中最值得把握的四年，希望大家珍惜时光，百尺竿头!“怕什么真理无穷，进一步有进一步的惊喜!”
